#Is This Newsletter Useful?
What follows are 3 buttons you can add as bookmarklets to your browser.
I created them as I was overwhelmed by the number of newsletters I was receiving and wanted to better understand which ones were useful and which ones were not.
Those buttons only work on Gmail - that was my need - and will allow you to track newsletter usefulness.
How to use them
To use them, you need to drag and drop the buttons to your bookmarks bar.
Then, after reading a newsletter - but still having it opened -, click on Useful
if you found the newsletter useful, Not Useful
if you didn't.
You can also click on Usefulness Data
to see how many times you clicked on each button for that specific email sender.
This data is stored in localStorage
and will never leave your browser.
Be sure to not use the split pane layout, as this will break the bookmarklets.
Also, be aware these bookmarklets use the sender's name as the key to store the data, so if the sender's name changes, the data will not match.
